The beginning of an adventure!

How does a Peruvian feel when celebrating the National Holidays away from their country?

Until last year, I was still celebrating the bicentennial of the country's Independence. This year I celebrate it outside my country. When you are far from home, it is natural to miss the traditions and celebrations that make our homeland unique. In the case of Peruvians abroad, the National Holidays are a particularly significant date. Even though they are far away, they always find a way to commemorate and keep alive the culture of their beloved Peru.

For many Peruvians abroad, celebrating the National Holidays is a bittersweet experience. On one hand, they are happy to keep their traditions alive and share their culture with others. On the other hand, nostalgia and distance make them appreciate even more the customs and warmth of their homeland. Despite everything, they feel proud to be Peruvian and carry in their hearts the love for their country. That's why I took advantage of the festivities to prepare some Pisco sours and let people know about this drink so typical of Peru.

Despite the distance, many Peruvians abroad come together to celebrate their country's National Holidays. They organize cultural events, Peruvian food festivals, criolla and marinera music concerts, and parades with traditional costumes. These celebrations not only allow them to connect with their Peruvian identity but also to share their culture with people from other nationalities.
